What Size TV Should I Buy? A Bahrain Living Room Guide

Match screen size to how far you actually sit, and work out whether OLED, QLED or Mini LED suits a bright Bahraini living room.

Screen size is decided by where you sit, not by what looks big in a showroom. Panel type is decided by how much daylight your room gets.

The short answer

Measure from where you sit to where the screen will go.

3–4 m	75"
4 m and beyond, or a majlis	85" and up

Going too small is the more common regret. Almost nobody returns a television for being too large; plenty wish they had gone one size up.

Panel type matters more than resolution now

Nearly everything is 4K, so resolution is rarely the deciding factor. The panel is.

OLED

Each pixel makes its own light, so black is genuinely black. The best picture in a room you can darken. Less bright than the alternatives, so heavy daylight works against it.

QLED and Mini LED

Brighter, and they hold contrast in a lit room — which describes most Bahraini living rooms, where the light is strong for most of the day.

Standard LED

Fine for a bedroom or a second set.

If you watch football or game

Look for 120Hz. Motion on a 60Hz panel smears on fast pans, which is exactly what football is. For a console, 120Hz plus HDMI 2.1 is what you want.

Sound

Every flat television has the same problem: there is no room inside it for a speaker. Even an entry-level soundbar is a step change, and the biggest improvement is usually on dialogue rather than explosions. If you want the low end for films, choose a bar that ships with a wireless subwoofer.

Wall mount or stand

Check the VESA pattern before buying a bracket, and check what the wall is made of — a plasterboard partition needs different fixings from a concrete wall. We mount and set up as part of delivery.
