Chest against upright is a storage question, not a quality one. Chest freezers hold more per riyal, keep temperature longer in a power cut, and cost less to run — but everything ends up in a stack you have to dig through. Uprights give you shelves and drawers you can actually use, in a smaller footprint.
For Bahrain, two things matter more than elsewhere. Ambient temperature: a freezer in an unconditioned garage or utility room works far harder than the label assumes. And defrost type: frost-free costs more up front and saves you a job you will otherwise put off for a year.
