Heat control matters more than wattage. Fine or colour-treated hair needs a lower setting than a single-temperature dryer offers, and repeated high heat is what causes the damage people blame on the tool. Ceramic and tourmaline plates spread heat more evenly than bare metal and are worth the difference.
Ionic drying reduces frizz, which is genuinely useful in Bahrain's humidity through the cooler months.
For straighteners, plate width should match hair length: narrow plates for short hair and fringes, wider for long. A plate that is too wide on short hair is awkward and gets hot near the scalp.
